These terms form a contract between you and ggcounselling. Please read them before booking a session. Booking a session or signing a client agreement constitutes your acceptance of these terms.
1. About This Service
ggcounselling is a private counselling practice operated by Grazyna Gwarek, an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP membership no. 404132). Sessions are offered in English and Polish.
In-person sessions are held at: Bodywise/Buddhist Centre, 16–20 Turner Street, Manchester, M4 1DZ.
Online sessions are delivered via a secure video platform. Details will be confirmed at the point of booking.
2. Booking & Appointments
2.1 Making a booking
Appointments may be made by telephone, email, or through the website contact form. A booking is confirmed once you receive written confirmation from Grazyna.
2.2 Session length and format
Standard counselling sessions are 50 minutes. The format (in-person or online) will be agreed at the time of booking.
2.3 Availability
Sessions are available on weekdays. Current availability will be confirmed at the point of enquiry.
3. Fees & Payment
3.1 Session fees
Session fees will be confirmed at your initial consultation. Fees are reviewed periodically; you will be given no less than four weeks’ notice of any change.
3.2 Payment
Payment is due prior to each session unless a different arrangement has been agreed in writing. ggcounselling encourage advanced payments to cover the month ahead, for example, paying at the end of April for the number of May session agreed. Client feedback indicates that this method makes budgeting for and commitment to personal development easier and the therapy more effective. Accepted payment methods will be confirmed at booking.
3.3 Non-payment
If payment is not received, ggcounselling reserves the right to pause or end the therapeutic relationship and to pursue outstanding amounts through appropriate channels.
4. Cancellation & Late Attendance
4.1 Cancellation by you
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged at the full session rate, at Grazyna’s discretion.
4.2 Late arrival
If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time. The full fee remains payable.
4.3 Cancellation by ggcounselling
In the event that Grazyna needs to cancel a session, you will be given as much notice as possible and the session will be rescheduled at no additional charge.
4.4 Repeated non-attendance
Repeated cancellations at short notice, or missed appointments with or without contact, may result in the therapeutic relationship being reviewed or ended. Grazyna reserves her right to use her discretion here.
5. Confidentiality
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the counselling relationship. Information you share in sessions will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Where there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person.
- Where disclosure is required by law or court order.
- Where information is shared in professional supervision – supervision is a requirement of BACP membership and helps to maintain ethical practice. Supervisors are bound by the same standards of confidentiality.
If a situation arises that requires a breach of confidentiality, Grazyna will wherever possible discuss this with you first. Grazyna may need to apply her discretion in each case to comply with UK laws.
6. Your Wellbeing & Fit for the Service
Counselling can be a challenging process. It is important that you feel ready to engage with therapeutic work. If at any point the service is not meeting your needs, please raise this openly — it is always possible to discuss a referral to a different practitioner or service.
ggcounselling does not provide emergency or crisis support. If you are in crisis, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or contact the Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7).
7. Professional Standards
Grazyna is an accredited member of the BACP and works within its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. She holds a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling and has over 20 years of work experience in various roles in adult education and healthcare settings.
If you have a concern about the service, please raise it directly with Grazyna in the first instance. If the concern cannot be resolved, you have the right to raise a complaint with the BACP at: http://www.bacp.co.uk.
8. Online Sessions
For online sessions, you are responsible for ensuring you have a suitable private space with a stable internet connection. ggcounselling uses secure, GDPR-compliant video conferencing software.
Online sessions are subject to the same terms as in-person sessions including confidentiality, fees, and cancellation.
In the event of a technical failure during an online session, Grazyna will attempt to contact you by telephone. If the session cannot be completed, a partial session may be offered at a reduced fee, at her discretion.
9. Limitation of Liability
ggcounselling’s liability to you is limited to the direct and immediate consequences of any proven breach of duty. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any matter that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will always be available on the website. Continued use of the service following notification of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
