ANXIETY & OVERWHELM

When worry becomes the background noise of your life.

Anxiety is exhausting in a particular way – because it is relentless. The low-level dread that follows you around. The difficulty concentrating. The physical tension you can’t quite shake. Lying awake with thoughts that go nowhere useful.  Most people with anxiety are highly functional. They manage, they cope, they keep going. Which means the cost is often invisible – to others, and sometimes to themselves.

How counselling can help

There are practical tools for managing anxiety – and there is deeper work to be done on what is driving it. In my experience, the most effective work does both.  CBT offers concrete techniques for recognising and challenging the thought patterns that fuel anxiety. We’ll look at what your anxiety is actually saying, and learn to respond to it differently – reducing its power without simply suppressing it.  Alongside that, we’ll explore where the anxiety is coming from. Often anxiety is a reasonable response to something that is not being addressed – a situation, a relationship, a set of beliefs about safety or control that were formed a long time ago. Understanding that doesn’t make it disappear, but it makes it much
